Heather & Keenan

2020 was a year filled with many uncertainties and challenges.

Despite the hurdles that the year presented, Heather and Keenan were able to persevere as a couple and build a strong foundation for their partnership.

2020 was the year that Keenan and Heather fell in love. After meeting in September 2019, their relationship blossomed in February when Keenan joined the Beaty family for an idyllic vacation in Pauoa, Hawai’i. It didn’t take long for Keenan to feel connected to the other members of the Beaty clan, or for Heather to realize that Keenan was the puzzle piece missing in her life.

In May the pair decided to move in together much to the annoyance of Heather’s eight year old cat Cosette. Their days at home in the early pandemic were filled with acro yoga, sprouting seeds in their backyard, playing music in the evening, and taking off into the mountains for highlining adventures or hiking expeditions. Keenan’s carpentry skills were put to work building new pieces for the home, and Heather energized his work with delicious cakes and treats. Of course not all was rosy in the world, but building a comfortable home filled the pair with support, love, and balance which helped Keenan and Heather feel positive about their future together.

In November of course they got their sweet little puppy Blue Clementine who gave the couple a real sense of responsibility and commitment to something greater than themselves.

In December Keenan proposed, and the rest is history! Heather and Keenan are so grateful for their partnership and for their colourful life ahead.

Keenan had just been cat-fished online when he matched with Heather on the dating app @Bumble, so was feeling extra wary about trusting whether or not she was as awesome as her profile promised.

When she texted "hey," he wanted to make sure she wasn’t a 55 yer old woman masquerading as a younger woman!

Cheerful chit chat can only get you so far so after the usual “hey” “how’s it going?” Keenan quickly suggested an old school move, the phone call.

Heather was surprised yet humoured, and in particular at the long-winded stories and dad jokes that ensued. After approximately one hour on the phone (if you know Keenan, you know this is normal), the two decided to make plans to meet in person.

Clearly the dad jokes paid off! Keenan suggested bowling, and Heather suggested meeting for a drink first since the earliest lane they could book at Grandview Lanes was 10:30pm. The rest is history! Let's just forget that low bowler score Heather earned.
